Missing India and Team 2015
Tomorrow is the start of team 2015 with our first meeting. I am really excited but slightly nervous at the same time.
I have not been on project since 2011, which seems like such a long time ago. Lots of other amazing things have happened like having a beautiful son, but I have missed India and missed being on two projects.
What excites me is the opportunity to meet a new team and to build relationships with them. I am really looking forward to seeing all the children and young people that we work with in India and seeing old friends from YMCA Madras and Oasis Chennai. I cant wait for the assault on my senses; the temperature, humidity and awesome rainfalls; the sights of colourful saris, temples and deities; the sounds of the traffic, horns and amazing vendors; the smells of jasmine, spices and sun tan lotion and the tastes of fresh lime soda, masala dosa and gulab jamun. Oh my goodness!
I am nervous because in a way it feels a bit like my first time. I am nervous because I’ve not led a project for while and I want to make sure that I get it right. I am nervous that I will have forgotten something.
I am certain that it is going to be an amazing project, that the team will have an amazing experience and that the work that Chennai Challenge do this year will make a difference in the lives of the people we meet.
You still have the opportunity to join this years team, come along to the meeting tomorrow (24th January) at St John’s Church in Stafford at 5pm.
