Day 4: English Lessons, afterschool clubs and Rain!
Hello all and vanakam! (From Mary A.K.A Pretty Green!)
I’m chilling very comfortably in the air conditioned, wi-fi equipped reception of YMCA Vepery. I’ve opted out of shopping after a lovely team dinner at ‘the Ritz’ (obviously not ‘THE Ritz’) as to be honest, I’m all shopped out!
Today has been most productive, beginning with half of the team leading an English session with Oasis (which, by the sounds of it, was very enjoyable and successful!). The other half, myself included, did some serious shopping – for all the resources for our activity holiday with the boys from YMCA boys town on Saturday. Fortunately, the staff in Gold Mine were once again hugely helpful in literally taking our shopping list – long though it was! – and making it reality. So after a couple of hours in the rather toasty shop (and then a couple more organising games and gathering resources for today’s after school session) I for one was ready for lunch at Doveton! Ghee Dosa… mmm!
After lunch, we were refreshed and ready for making paper chains, playing limbo with the paper chains and then musical statues with the 50 children at an Oasis after school club. The children were all so engaged and excited to meet us and it was great fun for us to play too – however sweaty we ended up!
Currently, Suzanne, Chloë and Steven have just returned from experiencing true Indian Monsoon and are dripping wet, and Sarah’s gone to rescue her washing from our balcony! I’m hoping the sound of rain crashing on the roof will somehow lull me to sleep, Night all!
